With Durham Central Park as the five acre backyard for Vega residents, we asked Durham Central Park Executive Director Erin Kauffman for an update on what’s been taking place recently in this idyllic green space that offers comfort and calm in the middle of the city. “We’ve just completed a new walking path behind The Vega property,” Erin commented. “Designed to add shaded, playable area for kids of all ages, the new path runs from Mount Merrill, our interactive children’s play area, down to the creek, under the bridge, and back up to Hunt Street. We’ve also added a new climbable sculpture, a sleeping troll, near the path. It’s on the same side of the bridge as our existing turtle sculpture and it looks fantastic. We’re very excited about these new enhancements.”
